Little Shop of Horrors
A man-eating plant sings retro rock in an award-winning Off-Broadway revival of the 1982 horror-sci-fi-musical comedy by Disney legends Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. A hapless resident of 1950s Skid Row discovers a fascinating, blood-thirty plant and figures out how to feed him. Featuring an all star cast of Broadway faves (Tammy Blanchard, Rob McClure and two-time Tony winner Christian Borle).
2 hours with one intermission
Dark themes are balanced by campy comedy and catchy tunes. The carnivorous plant is a cute, not creepy puppet (puppeteers bow at the end, along with other characters who died). The sadistic dentist is not portrayed realistically but still might trigger future fears. Have a pre-show conversation with sensitive kids about how it’s not “real.”
🤬 Some mild profanity by the plant and in songs (slut, sh*t, damn)
The theater is intimate, 270 seats on one level, so all seats have good views.
