Skate on the city’s only free rink or just watch and enjoy a festive winter vibe. Online advance reservations required to skate, reservations roll out daily two weeks before skate time.

* Skate rentals are $15-$45. Get one additional free skate rental per transaction with code BFF at checkout. Helmets also availble ($6).  Penguin skate aids available for younger kids ($22, free before 11 am on weekends, and noon on weekdays).

* Shoe check is complimentary for all skaters, as no bags are allowed on the ice.  Leave personal items at home, or check them at the skating pavilion ($5 per item, $15 per oversized item – eg: stroller or piece of luggage).

* Ages 7+ can try Bumper Cars on Ice during certain hours.

* Take an indoor break and check out free exhibits at the grand in-park New York Public Library.

* Get unique treats (and hot cocoa) at the seasonal rinkside Lodge and lingering holiday shops.
