See charming small bronze animal sculptures created by K-12 students from NYC and tri-state area around a 40-foot high bronze sculpture by Cathedral Artist-in-Residence Greg Wyatt that weaves together several representations of the conflict between good and evil. Also look for peacocks roaming around the lovely grands of the grand Cathedral.
Cathedral of St. John the Divine Peace Tree
As part of a 35-year-old tradition inspired by the 11-year-old Hiroshima victim immortalized in the book ‘Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes,’ the soaring Cathedral’s 20-foot tree is decorated with hundreds of paper cranes, an Asian symbol of harmony, longevity and reconciliation.
Camels and Kings: A Gift Giving Workshop
Hear the story surrounding the famous journey of the three wise men, celebrated around the world, then make gift boxes, costumes, and sparkling crowns Recommended for children ages 4 – 8 years old. Also check out the stone animals in Children’s Sculpture Garden – and look for live peacocks.
