Celebrate the American Folk Art Museum’s 60th anniversary with two comprehensive, colorful installations

In Morris Hirshfield Rediscovered, see over 40 of a self-taught artist’s wildly stylized paintings of female figures adorned with lively colors and patterned clothing, recalling the artist’s earlier work as a tailor and footwear designer (note there is also some stylized full frontal female nudity). Animals abound, including tigers, cats, dogs, elephants, birds and zebras. Includes recreations of 14 boudoir slippers made to the specifications of the artist’s patent illustrations of his popular, fanciful E-Z Walk slippers.

Also see Pushing Boundaries: 60 Years of AFAM Exhibitions highlighting key exhibitions in the six decade history of the Museum with a selection of beloved works of art and rarely seen documents.
