Help welcome the New Year by making handmade decorations to liven up the Museum. Transform the space with colorful creations, which will be on display through MOCA’s annual Lunar New Year Family Festival.

At 3 pm, join author Michele Wong McSween for a meet & greet. Michele will teach English and Mandarin words from her new bilingual book, Gordon & Li Li Celebrate Chinese New Year, where Gordon & Li Li learn about New Years’ preparations, good luck foods, and special greetings for a happy and prosperous New Year. A special Year of the Rat bookmark craft and book signing will follow the reading.

Lunar New Year Family Festival

Join diverse communities from the 5 boroughs to celebrate the Lunar New Year with storytelling, drop-in arts and crafts, teaching artist demonstrations, special guests, and more.

MOCAKIDS Storytime

Interactive songs, finger-plays, nursery rhymes, and arts & crafts accompany a bilingual storytime in English and Mandarin. Everyone from native speakers to those seeking their first exposure to a new language are invited. Designed for ages 3-6, but younger and older siblings are welcomed.
