See a comprehensive retrospective of pioneering artist Jasper John’s seven-decade career, opening simultaneously at the Whitney and the Philadelphia Museum. This vivid chronological survey and innovative and immersive exploration features variations on the American flags, colorful maps, doubling, monumental paintings, wax sculptures letters, numbers and lots of color.

A great place for art fans of all ages to play I Spy or Spot the Difference throughout the phases, masterworks, and mysteries of Johns’s still-evolving career. Look for words, numbers, footprints, spoons, flags, handprints, a bite mark in a painting, jaunty skeletons, the Mona Lisa, the Big Dipper and more in this fascinating exhibit. Pick up a free kids guide and pencil at the front desk for discussion points and drawing prompts.
