Japan Society Creative Play & Family Workshops: Flying Carps & Tea Ceremony

Explore Japan’s seasonal customs and culture through art making based on a different theme each month. From 1–2 pm, preschool-aged children and their caregivers experience the Japanese legend of carp fish who used their bravery to swim to the top of a waterfall to eventually become dragons by play with carp and dragon puppets and an imaginary waterfall. From 2:30–4 pm, 6 to 10-year-olds and their families learn about The Way of Tea and participate in an authentic Japanese tea ceremony.
