The 8th annual Aarti Hindu Lamp Ceremony with Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy goes virtual this year, with lamp-making kits available for pick up in the Park prior to the ceremony.

Aarti is a tradition in which an offering of light is made on the banks of the river – to honor the nurturing power of the river and signify purification. The lamps are made from palm bowls, painted with traditional ceremonial colors, with a wick made of cotton dipped in ghee or oil. Instead of being released and then collected in the East River, lamps will be made at home and released into homemade water bodies.

Kit pick up 12–2 pm at Pebble Beach; virtual ceremony 5-5:45 pm via Zoom.
