The home-turned-museum of Rufus King – Founding Father and early voice in the anti-slavery movement- hosts free family programs the first & third Saturday each month with seasonal themes.

Several women worked at King Manor in the 19th century. Their jobs did not just include cooking and cleaning as was often the case with female workers in this time period, but also taking apart furniture, cleaning it, then reassembling it. To celebrate their craftsmanship and inspire young people of all genders to enter construction vocations, collaborate with Tools & Tiaras and Rojas AP in a construction-style activity. Kids and teens can come and brainstorm ideas and bring these ideas to life –  and even construct King Manor.

Also see artist Rosa Valado’s exhibition, Migrations. Using handmade copper roses, metal and weaving, Valado communicates visually and metaphorically the American Spirit of the 1700’s across the centuries to the present time.
