Feathers and Flora Weekend

Sunday, May 20
10:00 am–4:00 pm
Wave Hill
West 249th Street & Independence Avenue

Learn about local birds that live in the Bronx and the plants that sustain them in a scenic garden. Join visiting artist Virva Hinnemo to construct and paint a collaborative mural with sculptural branches—a forest mural that will be animated with bird calls. Make a lightweight, cardboard bird that can flutter into the mural or hover on sticks on the ceiling. Engage with naturalists, artists, educators and other experts and join family nature walks. Explore the exhibition Avifauna: Interplay of Birds + Habitat, featuring artwork that delves into the relationship between birds and their habitats.

* The Café in in historic Wave Hill House serves a menu of local, seasonal ingredients including warm entrées, sandwiches, salads and kid-friendly options.
