Fall Forest Weekend
November 3 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Explore the magnificent fall colors of the Thain Family Forest, the largest remaining tract of old-growth forest in New York City. Hear NYBG Composer-in Residence Angélica Negrón’s newly commissioned, site-specific work, an original series of interactive choral experiences and rich, layered soundscapes that give a voice to the surrounding trees. (1 & 3 pm). Also meet inhabitants including live mammals, reptiles, and birds (12 & 2 pm), watch woodcrafting and more autumnal activities. Head to the Children’s Adventure Garden to see the enormous tree cookies of a giant sequoia and a white oak, participate in other hands-on fun, and take indoor breaks with themed books and toys.
Marvel at model trains zipping around stunning New York landmark replicas made of plant parts such as nuts, bark, and leaves, and enjoy hands-on holiday fun for the entire family (most of it in the climate-controlled indoors).
