Learn about Edith Halpert, the trailblazing art dealer whose influence, eye, and passion for American art championed the work of Stuart Davis, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, Ben Shahn, and Charles Sheeler. See approximately 100 works of American modern and folk art that passed through the Downtown Gallery, the first major mainstream NYC art space run by a a woman and promoting the work of  female, immigrant, Jewish African American and Asian artists.

Dig Drop–in

Explore, sketch and hunt for a featured artifact in a simulated archaeological dig highlighting replicas from ancient to modern times. Takes place in the interactive Archaeology Zone with lots of hands-on activities.  

Jewish Museum Studio Art Sessions

Explore new themes each week in drop-in art workshops. Paint, draw, sculpt, or craft a work of art inspired by exhibitions on view. Also go for a dig in the kid-focused Archaeology Zone.
