As part of City of Water Day, Brooklyn Bridge Beach is open for one day only for a unique kayak race. Starting at 10:30 am, each team builds life-size paper boats made of 10 sheets of cardboard, 3 rolls of gaffing tape, and 10 rolls of clear waterproof packing tape to race at 1:30 pm (yes, some of them sink). When not in use for the Cardboard Kayak Race, the Brooklyn Bridge Beach will be open for free public kayaking (10 am–1 pm) and beach education activities (3 pm–4 pm), first come first serve.

This expansive park has great attractions and a gorgeous only-in-NYC view. Explore refurbished piers, most of which host playgrounds (our favorites are at Pier 6 including giant Slide Mountain, Sandbox Village, Swing Valley and the splashy Water Lab).
