Celebrate the life and legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. through interactive performances, protest marches, community art programs, and volunteer projects.

Each day features shadow puppet performances and puppet-making with Nehprii Amenii, poster-making and protest marching with Brooklyn-based musician Fyütch, and the creation of a community dream cloud in BCM’s ColorLab art studio.

On MLK Day, Monday, January 17, participate in a volunteer project led by non-profit Repair the World where families will help out by packing diapers and baby essentials to be donated to Little Essentials. Little Essentials offers at-risk families access to children’s supplies & parenting education to promote the health and safety of their young children.

Also enjoy regular weekend programming. Explore BCM’s signature exhibits including World Brooklyn, Neighborhood Nature, Totally Tots, Collections Central and The Nest. Space is limited to ensure that families can distance. Explore world cultures, visual arts, nature, animals and more in well-designed, interactive exhibits.

In ColorLab Sessions (10:30 am, 1:00 pm & 3:30 pm), make print-making, collage and sculpture projects inspired by artists such as Elizabeth Catlett, Richard Hunt, Faith Ringgold and Kehinde Wiley, among others.

Skate & Play Sessions ($10 extra) include 60-minutes of skate time on a 3,200 square foot outdoor rooftop eco-friendly skating rink and art exhibition showcasing the work of sixteen local artists with winter-themed activations.
