Santa is available for free walk-in photo shoots Saturday 10 am – 7 pm, Sunday + Christmas Week 10 am – 6 pm. No online reservations needed, usually no lines and friendly elves. Take your own photos and print two to take home. Includes a goodie packet with stickers, color pencils and a button.

Outside, admire colorful windows that embody the spirit of the gift-giving, memory-making season with larger-than-life elements from wrapping paper to champagne glasses, a toy workshop, a three-dimensional camera and more.

Walk south for more spectacular window displays.

Saks Fifth Ave Windows & Light Show

Heckscher Playground

Central Park’s largest playground features a shaded area with swings and slides, a large, maze-like climbers, seasonal water features, sloped turf, a large sandbox area, low monkey bars, tunnels, ramps and (our favorite) giant rocks to climb. Plus a spacious bathroom.

Face painters, musicians and giant bubble makers often congregate at the entrance.
