Celebrate  the art and science of edible plants, from spices like pepper to staples like corn across the Garden’s 250 acres.

* Explore the diversity and beauty of an abundant variety of plants that are grown for food all over the world through a living exhibition in and around the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory—from an undulating field of grains to edible plants such as bananas and rice.

* Visit the charming Everett Children’s Adventure Garden with fun nature-inspired outdoor activities. Investigate the edible plants, pretend to cook up a meal in a Plant Part Paradise Playhouse and pot a herb plant to start your own windowsill garden at home. On Wednesdays & Weekends at 2:30 p.m, join storytimes to discover children’s books focusing on food and plant themes

* Pick up a Table Trail & Scavenger Hunt for a self-guided, whirlwind adventure around the Garden grounds exploring tables designed by Bronx artists, each exploring the cultural and historical significance of edible plants and plant-based food traditions. Navigate the 30 tables in search of plants and special clues.

* See Colombian-American artist Lina Puerta artwork exploring the social and cultural impacts of the American food system,  peruse 150 years of vegetarian cookbooks in the and visit the African American Garden: Remembrance & Resilience for a look at the history of the African American experience in the U.S. through the lens of living plants from cotton and tobacco to okra and greens.

* Buy tickets online in advance. Consider a tax-deductible annual membership ($90+) as there a lot of kid-friendly things to see and do and the Gardens throughout each season, plus get free parking, guest passes, discounts at the shop and cafe and other perks.

🍽  A range of food is available including pretty good pizza, sandwiches and salads at the Pine Tree cafe by the main entrance or make reservations for The Hudson Garden Grill sit-down farm-to-table restaurant. Or bring a picnic from nearby Little Italy’s Arthur Avenue.

🚂 Take a 20 minute ride from Grand Central on the Metro-North Harlem local line to to Botanical Garden Station, located directly across the street from the Garden’s Mosholu Entrance near the Conservatory.

🚙 Parking is $20 with lots at the Main Entrance (2900 Southern Boulevard) and the Peter J. Sharp Parking Garage (401 Bedford Park Blvd) by the Conservatory entrance.
