A Henson Valentine + Muppet History 101

Saturday, February 3
11:00 am–3:00 pm
Museum of the Moving Image
36-01 35 Avenue (at 37 Street)

At 11 am, celebrate Valentine’s Day with two classic shows featuring the Muppets’s own unique approach to romance. In 1974’s The Muppets Valentine Show, The Muppets are joined by Mia Farrow for a music-filled tribute to love. Then, Miss Piggy has a plan to turn a wedding sketch into the real thing in a 1978 episode of The Muppet Show with guest star Marisa Berenson. At 1 pm, see Muppet History 101, a unique program of rarities from the Henson archives examining the origins of the Muppets. It includes excerpts from early live television appearances, unusual commercials, guest spots on variety shows, and much more, including clips from the rarely seen pilot episode of The Muppet Show. Presented by Craig Shemin, president of The Jim Henson Legacy and longtime Muppets writer. In conjunction with the fun exhibition Jim Henson’s World.

Also on Sunday.
Free with museum admission ($15/adults, $9/students & seniors, $7/ages 3-12, free/2 and under)
